　　雷诺警局的八个半调子警员在喜好穿短裤、频频要求调离的吉姆（托马斯·列农 Thomas Lennon 饰）带领下奔赴迈阿密参与一个全警察系统的会议，抱着享受阳光海滩希望的一行人抵达后，才发现他们居然完全被组织方忽视，八人无奈之下只得暂住简陋的汽车旅馆，岂料会场中的2000名警察遭遇恐怖袭击，全体中毒，迈阿密海滩陷入了没有警察的窘境，代理市长只得摆脱八人负责这一地区的治安。懒散成性、毫无责任感的八人把维护治安变成了一场荒诞的大戏，他们炸鲸鱼尸体、被当地贩毒团伙头目莫名其妙的拷问后哭天抢地的求饶、女警员酩酊大醉后胸口多了一个陌生男人头像的纹身……代理市长无法再忍受他们搞砸一切，将他们驱逐，满怀愧疚的雷诺警员们登门道歉，却意外发现了代理市长和毒贩头目的诡计。
