　　妻子度假期间，丈夫理查德·沙尔曼（汤姆·伊威尔 Tom Ewell 饰）因为一次花盆事件，结识了三楼邻居、电视广告明星（玛丽莲·梦露 Marilyn Monroe 饰）。对方如洋娃娃般的美貌，令这个已婚男人为之倾倒，并且在一次酒会上，在她弹钢琴的时候，坐在她的 旁边，作出了不雅的举动。事后，汤姆陷入了深深的懊恼之中，他求教于心理医生，对方指出他的病症，引诱他付高价诊治。汤姆没有理会，开始自己的心理分析，并对此事做出了一系列添油加醋的幻想。他担心这个八卦会传到妻子耳中，这种担心逐渐转向了对后者出轨的怀疑。于是，汤姆在性幻想的左右下，约了这个女孩一起看电影，并请她来家中做客。后者因为家里的电扇不制冷而贪恋他家的空调，因此希望来这里过夜，结果闹出不少笑话……

The beautiful but ditsy blond from the apartment above his catches his eye and they soon start spending time together. It's all innocent though there is little doubt that Sherman is attracted to her. Any lust he may be feeling is played out in his own imagination however.
