　　本片根据1987年的挪威电影《白夜迷踪》(Ofelas)改编而来。改编后的故事发生在哥伦布发现新大陆之前的500年的美洲大陆，那时的维京人已经发现了美洲大陆，被称为"海盗"的维京人自从发现新大陆后就开始了劫掠的印地安原住民的过程。故事开始于一群维京人在实施暴力后遭到印第安土著人的反抗，他们仓皇中将一维京小男孩留在美洲大陆，善良的印地安人将他当成自己的孩子抚养长大。20年后，长大了的维京男孩生活的部族再度遭遇北欧海盗的袭击，一面是具有血缘关系的亲人，一面是抚养自己长大的恩人，维京男孩也陷入到艰难的抉择之中……
