Bumblebee's 1080p transfer delivers a fine representation of the film's physical and digital elements alike. The picture was shot on digital, which leaves behind some noise in lower light scenes, but the picture is otherwise free of blemish, considering any others at the source or introduced in the encoding. Paramount's 1.78:1-framed transfer, a departure from the ~2.39:1-framed Bay films (minus IMAX sequences), offers big-screen action and high-yield detailing throughout. Of prominent note is the transfer's display of the digitally constructed Transformers. While they carry more obvious G1 shapes and hearken back to the simpler lines and designs of the 1980s toys, cartoons, and movie, they also retain the fine detail complexities seen in the Bay movie, where there are numerous moving parts, little gears and flaps and joints that might actually allow the robots to transform. It's a good visual balance that translates very well to Blu-ray, which is never wanting for drastically increased sharpness and definition to all of the little digital details seen in closeups. That also includes signs of wear, dirt, dust, and the like while Bumblebee is in robot mode and also considering the grime and wear in vehicle form, particularly when Charlie first finds the Autobot. The 1080p goodness doesn't end there, though. Human characters reveal intimate skin and clothing details with ease and the 1980s environments, whether at a carnival or inside Charlie's home, offer abundant sharpness from corner to corner. Colors are just as spectacular. Bee's yellow is obviously the standout, but additional Transformer colors -- even in the darker Cybertron opening sequence -- are bold and intense, while richly colorful 80s clothes pop off the screen with well balanced flair. Skin tones hold true and black level depth is terrific. Bumblebee's Blu-ray transfer couldn't be much better.

( z" E3 g- C# Y' jBumblebee's Dolby Atmos soundtrack delivers, just as expected from a Transformers movie. There's no shortage of intensive surround implementation, several good examples of overhead engagement, and bass is prolific throughout. Meteors scream down in chapter seven with a highlight top end movement. Helicopters rush through with discrete overhead engagement in chapter 14. Action scenes are wonderfully realized, from the opening battle on Cybertron forward, with tremendous depth to gunshots, full-use surround integration, and wide front stretch. Each action scene is an exercise in precise and potent movie soundtrack engineering. There are a few moments when depth overpowers finesse, when subtle details sound a little muted, particularly during the climactic action scenes, but these are mostly trivial shortcomings that don't interrupt the sonic flow and flavor at work. Score is large and clarity is distinguished. A number of popular 80s tracks are heard in spurts throughout, and each of them sounds better than when they were released back in the day. Dialogue is clear and detailed. It's well prioritized and maintains a firm front-center positioning.
