Captain Marvel 3D Blu-ray, Video Quality

In a single word: wow. Now on with the review:

Captain Marvel astonishes in 3D and truly makes the filmmaking and spectacle even more rewarding. Watching the film in 3D is arguably the best way to even experience this film (and I say that as a firm fan of 4K as well). Unlike the Blu-ray included in this release or the separately available 4K UHD edition, Captain Marvel 3D retains the aspect ratio of the IMAX footage sequences so that the film presentation has an alternating aspect ratio going back-and-forth between 2.35:1 widescreen and the more open scope used for the IMAX scenes (which completely fills the screen).

There is something amazing about watching Brie Larson save the world in 3D. The presentation helps enhance the energy, excitement, and suspense. From the exciting action sequences to the quieter moments of the film, Captain Marvel looks consistently great on this 3D release. While the IMAX sequences are the true show-stopping scenes (which seem to have an extra "pop" to them that shines) the entire presentation is consistently worthwhile and it's hard to imagine any 3D fans not considering this as a go-to disc in their Marvel Cinematic Universe collections.

The colors are rich and enveloping on this release (especially for a 3D presentation). I did not experience issues with too much dimming on the video. Brightness levels on this release are effective and do not disappoint. The added depth greatly enhanced the overall experience. While this presentation isn't one with much pop-out gimmicky effects (which is something to be thankful for), the added dimension greatly enhances the fun and makes this a rewarding way to watch the film. Grab some friends, make some popcorn, and buckle up for a terrific experience.
