2 p0 P# x) G' Yyet another very, very strong looking disc from Tai Seng Entertainment. Contrast here is solid, clarity pleasing and detail on par with some of the best HK Blu-ray discs that we have reviewed so far. Generally speaking, edge-enhancement isn't a serious issue of concern either; I noted a total of three scenes where a bit of heavier lining was noticeable but other than that the overall presentation is solid. The color-scheme is also very convincing – blues, reds, greens, whites, and blacks are lush and well saturated. This being said, the indoor scenes are as convincing and impressive to look at as are the outdoor scenes. Digital noise reduction isn't something the print has been exposed to either. With other words, Lady Cop & Papa Crook looks as good as it probably did when it was screened at theaters around Asia. (Note: This is a Region-Free Blu-ray disc which you will be able to play on your PS3 or SA regardless of your geographical location).1 a. ^; U' L5 h4 r0 e9 c% p

% D" J, F. k: G! E! YThere are three audio tracks on this Blu-ray disc: Cantonese Dolby TrueHD 7.1, Cantonese Dolby Digital 5.1 and Mandarin Dolby Digital 5.1. I opted for the Cantonese Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track and later on did a few random comparisons with the Dolby Digital 5.1 track for the purpose of this review.' W! }6 ^ C, t, g3 E& J2 u

Generally speaking, the Cantonese Dolby TrueHD 7.1 does a terrific job of capturing the wild nature of Lady Cop & Papa Crook. There are not that many action scenes in this film where you would notice a great deal of surround activity, but there are a few that are certainly very impressive. Overall, the Cantonese Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track is also quite well balanced - the bass is rich and heavy, the high frequencies not overly enhanced and the dialog adequately mixed with the music soundtrack. Finally, I did not detect any disturbing pops, cracks, or hissings to report here.

% Z- I! H% I: eThe Cantonese Dolby Digital 5.1 track is also pleasing, though its limitations are very easy to detect. First of all, a lot of the surround enhancements are far less impressive; during most of the action scenes you will quickly notice that its dynamic amplitude isn't as strong as that of the Cantonese Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track. Second, on my system, the bass on the Cantonese Dolby Digital 5.1 track sounds a bit weaker as well. This being said, Tai Seng Entertainment have provided optional English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese subtitles for the main feature. , C+ q: a* o6 h
