- U* B# j( x: J" c# w 　　叶问（甄子丹 饰）携家眷来到香港，艰难度日。叶问开武馆宣扬咏春拳术，但无人问津。某日，黄梁（黄晓明 饰）登门拜访，比武之后，甘愿携一班兄弟，拜在叶问门下。黄梁因故与洪拳门下斗殴，结果被捉。叶问来救，却巧遇昔日对手金山找（樊少皇 饰），两人冰释前嫌，却不想被洪拳掌门洪震南（洪金宝 饰）拦下，以致众人被警察（郑则仕 饰）拘捕。洪震南提醒叶问，欲在香港开武馆，必须接受各大门派挑战。于是叶问单刀赴会，最终与洪震南对决，不分伯仲，叶问因拒绝缴纳会费，而遭到洪门寻衅滋事，以致武馆被关。背地里，洪震南替英国警察操持华洋比赛，但始终未有报酬，深感不平。拳击冠军龙卷风来到中国，在比赛现场中侮辱中国武术，打伤中国拳师。洪震南挺身而住，血溅现场。为了中国武术的荣誉，叶问接受了龙卷风的挑衅，为民族大义而战……

Ip Man 2 Blu-ray, Video Quality

Presented in an aspect ratio of 2.35:1, encoded with MPEG-4 AVC and granted a 1080p transfer, Wilson Yip's Ip Man 2 arrives on Blu-ray courtesy of British distributors Showbox Media.

; `2 ]' z! ^. II cannot see much of a difference between the Hong Kong Blu-ray release of Ip Man 2, which local distributors Universe Laser & Video Co. produced quite some time ago, and this new release courtesy of Showbox Media. Both appear practically identical - fine object detail is outstanding, clarity excellent, and contrast levels consistent throughout the entire film. Edge-enhancement and macroblocking are not an issue of concern, but I must admit that there were two scenes on this release where the blacks look somewhat sharpened. The first scene is very early into the film, where Ip Man is seen smoking a cigarette. The second is during the third round of master Hung Quan's final fight. This being said, there are no traces of heavy noise reduction - the grain is intact and well resolved. There are no serious stability issues to report in this review either. All in all, this release is an excellent, very affordable alternative for those fans of Ip Man 2 who could not take advantage of the pricier Hong Kong release. (Note: This is a Region-Free Blu-ray disc. Therefore, you will be able to play it on your PS3 or SA regardless of your geographical location. For the record, there is no problematic PAL or 1080/50i content preceding the disc's main menu).

There are two audio tracks on this Blu-ray disc: Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Cantonese Dolby Digital 2.0. For the record, Showbox Media have provided optional English subtitles for the main feature. When turned on, they split the image frame and the black bar below it.

The Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is outstanding. There are a number of very impressive action scenes in the film that benefit enormously from the loseless treatment. When I reviewed the Universe Laser & Video Co. Blu-ray release of Ip Man 2 I kept going back to the clash of the masters to compare the various audio tracks that were on it -- suffice to say the Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on this release is just as impressive as the Cantonese DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track. The bass and the surround channels are incredibly active, while the high-frequencies are never overdone. The dialog is crisp, clean, stable, and exceptionally easy to follow. I did not detect any pops, cracks, hissings, or dropouts to report in this review either. This is a disc that you could use to test the muscles of your audio system, folks!
