　　In this dramatic courtroom thriller LT Daniel Kaffee a Navy lawyer who has never seen the inside of the courtroom defends two stubborn Marines who have been accused of murdering a colleague. Kaffee is known as being lazy and had arranged for a plea bargain. Downey's Aunt Ginny appoints Cmdr. Galloway to represent him. Also on the legal staff is LTJG Sam Weinberg. The team rounds up many facts and Kaffee is discovering that he is really cut out for trial work. The defense is originally based upon the fact that PFC Santiago the victim was given a "CODE RED". Santiago was basically a screw-up. At Gitmo screw-ups aren't tolerated. Especially by Col. Nathan Jessup. In Cuba Jessup and two senior officers try to give all the help they can but Kaffee knows something's fishy. In the conclusion of the film the fireworks are set off by a confrontation between Jessup and Kaffee.

A Few Good Men follows shot-on-film catalogue releases like Starship Troopers, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Bridge on the River Kwai as another practically reference 4K presentation. The 2160p/HDR-enhanced UHD release offers a crisp, highly filmic image that stands head-and-shoulders above the aging Blu-ray release from a decade ago.  Textural refinements are immediately obvious and impeccably presented. Crisp military uniform fabrics are tight and precisely defined down to the absolute smallest material detail, and density is tangible. Faces are wonderfully sharp, complex and naturally revealing to a substantial degree over the previous high definition issue. Courtroom woods and other dominant support elements throughout the film reveal standard-setting levels of detail. Grain retention is continuous and balanced, supporting a wonderful filmic veneer. The HDR-enhanced color palette only serves to accentuate, not alter, the film's foundational coloring. American flag reds and blues sparkle. Skin tone depth and accuracy is beyond reproach. Blacks are sensational, not only nighttime and shadow details but the prominently visible black military uniforms Kaffee and his team wear in court. The white shirt worn in contrast under the jacket and tie is strikingly crisp and pure; these uniforms, both texturally and considering their color, may be the standout highlight in a UHD filled with standout highlights. Color intensity is always balanced, bright and vibrant to be sure but never overstepping any boundaries or sacrificing shot integrity for added highlights and punch. A few inherently soft corners are visible, but there appears to be no significant source or encode issues of note. This is another top-flight UHD presentation from Sony.



A Few Good Men makes the transition to the UHD format with a new Dolby Atmos soundtrack. The audio presentation offers no extremes, presenting a refined but capable and detailed listen that engages the entire stage but does so without any whiz-bang effects. The dialogue-intensive film still benefits from the Atmos treatment. Music's spatial qualities are modestly enhanced, opening a bit more than before with mildly increased clarity and separation throughout the stage. Atmospheric supports find a bit more stretch and sense of immersion, including rain and lingering thunder at the 98-minute mark and a bit beyond that offer a clearly defined overhead component. Otherwise, the track is rather straightforward. Mild reverberation echoes about in the courtroom scenes but the vast majority of content remains firmly centered up front. Basic dialogue is clear and convincing with positive, natural placement and prioritization.
