Back to the Future Part III Blu-ray, Video Quality

Universal's new remastered 1080p Blu-ray transfer is a delight, certainly not so robust as the concurrently released UHD but delivering a wonderfully filmic presentation that comes out solidly ahead of the aging, heavily processed 2010 Blu-ray release. The picture features very fine grain that accentuates the expert texturing on display. The movie is a treasure trove of textural delights, with old woods, worn Western attire, and dust and dirt presenting with accuracy and authenticity alike. The picture's sharpness is always on display and its clarity never relents. Colors are excellent, too, even limited to a steady diet of various shades of brown and beige. The odd sprinkling of additional tones, including some natural greens, red and green train cars at film's end, and Clara's colorful dresses show fine command of the more brilliant hues at work, too. Black levels are exquisite, whether nighttime skies or the black train engine that's vital in the final act. Flesh tones are refined, too. There is no evidence of print damage or encode shortcomings. This one looks amazing; the adds of superior grain structure, more naturally defined textures, and improved color timing all make for an excellent Blu-ray.

Universal has simply ported over the existing DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack from the older Blu-ray releases.
